Fedora is a cutting edge Linux distribution, but it would freeze software database, so it is still very stable. However, in Fedora 20, the last version, something you may want to notice.
First, Fedora stops packaging Chromium browser any more. They even stop updating their wiki about Chromium. Before Fedora 19, there is a Redhat employee worked with Google company in order to ensure the Chromium package is healthy and stable, but now they stop. We do not know the reason. We guess the reason is that, Google Chromium is still hard to package, and they still do not fix this issue. Furthermore, the latest version of Chromium and Chrome have conflict with native V8 engine. Its that, if you have installed Chromium or Chrome, and you are coding Node.js, you cannot use your native v8 properly. The only way you can continue your project is to use the Chromium's v8. For more information, please read: http://www.llaumgui.com/post/fedora-20-et-chromium. This post is French. It also provides a latest third party repo from Russia. If you want to know more about package issue of Chromium, please read this wiki page https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Chromium. Please do not install the repo on the wiki, because the wiki is outdated.
Second, the AMD Catalyst driver can never be used. This issue is completely irrelevant to Fedora community or Redhat company. The only reason is that, the third party packager, leigh123linux, stop working on it anymore. He does not have AMD graphic card, so he can hardly patch and test it. Somebody else try to package it, but it is very buggy. For example, the GNOME SHELL and GDM cannot be loaded. For more details, please read http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=295881. There is also lack of AKMOD, so you have to reinstall it and modify it every time after updating Fedora Xorg and Linux Kernel. The only solution is using free driver radeon and mesa. It works very well, and the only problem is some 3D video games, especially proprietary video game, though most free and open source 3D software works perfectly on free driver mesa.
That's it, have fun, be free.
