Right now I kind of stay away from these topics in social media. If you search or just simply wait until the algorithm pushing to your page, you can see hundreds of those discussions:
"Do Not Use Rust to do Your Next GUI project", "Do Not Use Rust to Build Your Next Game", "Do Not Use Rust to Develop Your Next Website", "Do Not Use Rust to Write Your Next Micro Controller Embeded", "Do Not Use Rust to Write Your Next Driver", "Do Not Use Rust to Start Your Next Android App"...
... And More... And More...
And you will see all the comments supporting or not supporting those opinions.
Every programming language has its pros and cons, so those opinions seem fine at the first glance. However, right now people intend to bring their stress of job security, reputation, and mental health (~~such as the one you know whom~~) into these discussions. If their jobs or incomes are Rust related, they will make hypes. If they are JavaScript guys or whatever 6 digits full stack big tech programmers, they will piss Rust off. For example, if you see a YouTube video titled "Do Not Use Rust to do Your Next GUI project", you will see all their "GUIs" are web, React, Vue, etc.. etc.. And if you say immediate GUI like what we use in games, they will lose their mind, and become angry, although imgui is not going to replace retained gui anytime soon in web. But they have their stress that they don't want any other languages become more popular, so that if their companies change to new languages, they will have to go to flip burgers ...
Sometime people need to lose their jobs and flip burgers a couple times to make a good discussion.
