In the current decade, America has an increasing problem in teaching children. There are so many fighting, suicides, gun shooting at schools. Last few years, some people just blamed guns. Now, they change, and they begin to blame encouraging words. Let's see a video:

I do agree that some rude words should be avoid in education and encouraging. Like the video said, "Be a man" is a very rude sentence to encourage children. Firstly, it is a gender prejudice. It implies that men should be stronger then women. It is wrong. Secondly，it is a little early to tell the children to be strong. They cannot understand what it mean. They probably misunderstand your encouraging words as "fight", "kill them", "don't be a pussy".
So how can I do if one of my friends is depressed and really needs help? I always use some other words which are more acceptable, like "be a warrior". I believe that warrior is very good, a warrior is not like a rude or greedy person who just wants to win everything, but it is like a brave person. However, you probably expect or can guess what happens next. Yes, one my professors keep to challenge me that I am using a wrong word. He believe that, a warrior is winning the battle, but probably still feels unhappy. What is my next word? Knight? Valkyrie? Samurai? Well, they are good people around the world, but they are still fighting. Just murder me okay?
Actually, even though some words are not appropriate, but to be a leader or educator, we still can try to explain them. Emma Watson is one of the best actor I have ever seen. She is brilliant and every well educated. This is what she explains "warrior" to young girls, "Young girls are told you should be a delicate princess; Hermione taught you to be a warrior." That is a really good explanation, because it contains a comparison and a fun example. It is easy to understand. Think about that, if your friend or child depressed, you say this to him, it would help. Everybody knows Hermione Granger, she is the bravest woman in the world of Magic. If they are still feel unhappy, do you think that going to watch this movie with them is good?
This is what I want to say, do not blame every single word, because it is all about how we explain and use them.
